Why Use Wrist Wrap
A wrist wrap is a wrap that is tied around the wrist so as to offer support to the wrists when you are doing heavy lifts. There is so much pressure when you lift weights, and this causes the wrists to get pulled into excessive extension under the load which may result in injury, pain, compromised lift, and failed lifts. A wrist wrap enables you to lift more weight safely than when you don’t have the wrap, and you can comfortably do more reps.
Wrist wraps work by compressing on the tendons and bones hence keeping them firm as you work out. You don’t need to wear wrist wraps all through your workout, but you can wear them when you need to lift weights. You don’t wrap them tightly because this will make your hands hurt once you start working out due to the restricted blood flow. Wear it in such a way that you will be free to move your wrists and hands freely as you work out and don’t use them in place of working the mobility and strength of your wrists.

What to Look for When Buying Wraps
There are different types of wrist wraps and brands so getting a correct one is important. When buying wrist wraps look for the following features:
Get a wrist wrap that is made of high-quality elastic material so that it supports the wrist 360 degrees throughout the whole range of movement. The material should be able to withstand the continuous strenuous workout without getting worn out quickly and should have a Velcro patch which ensures that it maintains its position as you workout.
The weights and the floors are usually dirty and together with sweat, they make the wrist wraps get dirty quickly. Get wrist wraps that are made from a material that is highly absorbable so as to absorb the sweat as you work out. The material should also be easy to wash and dry and can withstand the many times you wash them.
Your wrist size doesn’t matter, but what matter is the length of the wrist wrap. The longer the wrist wrap, the better the support. They should be easy to adjust and much faster when you are working out.
For better performance, you can use the wrist wraps together with weight lifting gloves and also protect your hands and wrists for the weights.
If you have wrist problems, joint damage or flexibility issue, it would be best not to use the wrist wraps as it may matters worse than they are already.
The best quality wrist wraps are not cheap, but when you invest in them, you are assured of getting value for your money and will serve you for a long period.
